KMS 8th Grader Wins Poetry Slam

Congratulations to Becca Johnson, an 8th grader at Kennedy Middle School, who took first place in the youth division at Natick’s 8th Annual Poetry Slam held on Thursday, April 28th at the Center for the Arts in Natick sponsored by the Morse Institute Library.

Her poem gave powerful voice to bullying and was a call to action for inclusion, acceptance, and celebration of differences. Becca’s contribution will be available for viewing on Natick Pegasus Public Access Channel. We are proud of this kind of activity in the community and that this young person took the risk to shine in this way!  Just another example of how powerful teens can be in our community.

  1. She was SO amazing — not only were the words of her poem powerful, but the delivery of her message left me breathless.
