Natick Students to Compete in Local TCAN Film Festival!

The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) and Walnut Hill School for the Arts announced a collaborative partnership to produce the first annual MetroWest Student Film Festival on April 5-7, 2019 at TCAN. (Festival details can be found below.)

The Festival will feature the work of student filmmakers aged 14 -19 who are residents of Boston MetroWest. Films by two groups of students from Natick High School were selected as finalists!

Film Title: “The Prison Escape”
School: Natick High School
Film Type: Live Action – Silent Film
Film Description: Silent film about a prisoner escaping from jail while being pursued by the prison guard.

Film Title: The Artist
School: Natick High School
Film Type: Live Action – Silent Film
Film Description: Silent film about an artist trying to paint a portrait while the subject refuses to standstill.


About the Festival

WHEN
April 5 – 7, 2019

SCHEDULE

Friday, April 5, 7:30pm
The Festival will kick-off with an evening program, “Script to Screen” to showcase films created by Walnut Hill students enrolled in the school’s Writing, Film & Media Arts program. Following the screening, Antonio Viva, Walnut Hill School for the Arts Head of School will moderate a talkback and Q&A with the student filmmakers. Note: As Festival partners, Walnut Hill students were ineligible to submit films to the competition.

Saturday, April 6, 7:30pm
Screening of 12 film finalists followed by a roundtable discussion and Q&A with the judges and student filmmakers moderated by Festival director, Margaret Funkhouser and Nicola Anderson, Cinema Program Director at TCAN.

Sunday, April 7,  3pm
Repeat screening of the 12 finalists, followed by an awards ceremony and reception.

TICKETS
